👎 Not a Descript alternative in the sense, when you edit the captions you can’t dynamically see the changes. -0.5 🌮 You need to render to see the changes. The 1-minute video takes 30-45 secs to render.
👎 Upload, processing, render, export, all take a lot of time as it’s cloud-based. But well, their servers may be busy due to the launch. But you get an email after processing, so no issues for some.
👎 Only 1080p max (no 4k support). XML fixes this 👇
👎 No ability to export XML to Premiere Pro. With this, you can work on the cloud with a proxy file, and replace it with 4k in post -0.25 🌮
👎 No ability to set the amount of zoom for punch cuts – -0.25 🌮
It’s not a Premiere Pro or Inshot alternative, c’mon. And audio auto-ducking tech is not AI. Many non-AI video editing softwares have it.
My take: A good one to keep and see how it evolves. The roadmap looks decent, but they need to consider the feedback. Can speed up video editing workflow a lot!

This is an amazing tool for professionals who want the convenience of editing their videos without having to learn all of the complicated software. I have watched some people struggle to use the software, but thankfully the company has a support team that works with its customers. I am so glad that I found this tool because it has made my life so much easier.
A couple of things:
1. The auto punch in/out did not work with the vlog style video that I was working on. Might have been a glitch but haven’t tried it again. May have been fixed now
2. The editing page was underwhelming to use especially when I’m used to timeline editing like Premiere . I would like to see improvement in this to make it easier for content creators to easily edit each scene.
3. The caption preview should be improved so the caption/subtitle is visible on the video as I scrub through the time.
There’s definitely room for improvement here and I would like to see Wisecut tackle these things I noted in the future updates.

So i bought it yesterday and was giving it a shot. The onboarding is bad. There is no real explanation or guide of the whole process so you have to try out yourself how things work it is not really intuitive.
I wanted to quickly edit a video but then just gave up after cut it myself after many hurdles i could not overcome.
For example:
👉 You can only cut sentences, but i couldn´t find a way to cut out a single word.
👉 Your edits are not real time, so if you want to look how your edit looks you have to re-render the whole thing
👉 It is not correct – i was hearing me talking but didn´t see the text so i could´t cut that part because it wasen´t there.
👉 The whole editing process is cumbersome – i also bought pictory for comparison and here you just edit like in a word dokument – just mark what you don´t want and cut it.
👉 The translation is not consistent – some words are english some are some other language
Maybe i´m doing it all wrong but that is also a proof for being not intuitive- like i sayed i had no problem with pictory that offers a similiar thing. But unfortunatly not the automatic Cut&Zoom.
All in all it feels like a beta product – and im more and more getting suspicious of all the 5 stars reviews on appsumo in general- because it is not the first time that my experience is like that.

As with anything, it takes a bit of getting used to. But it’s not a massive learning curve. It’s very a novel way of doing things.
I really like the line by line transcript, and how you can split scenes based on the text, I think it works better than pictory for this. I’m keeping both.
Having music available is another massive time saver.
It’s work in progress but I can see huge potential in this if they keep listening to feedback and making improvements as they have done. 100% worth the gamble. Grab it if you do any type of video.

Wisecut is a great tool for people who are time-strapped. The biggest selling point for me is that it removes pauses in my videos. As someone who has shared video content for a long time, I purposefully leave long pauses in my recordings whenever I mess up and need to re-record a section. When Wisecut snips out these pauses, I can easily go into the editor and remove the messed up content with no hassle.
I stacked to Tier-3 to get 20 hours of transcription per month. It’s unbelievable value to pay for this one-time instead of paying recurring monthly subscriptions fees to a service like Descript. While I won’t be ditching Descript for Wisecut, since Descript has the Overdub feature, I can definitely cut back on my subscription there since I have 20 transcription hours per month with Wisecut.
