Typeflo Review: Ditch WordPress and Publish Blogs in 20 Minutes (or less!)

Tired of WordPress headaches? Typeflo turns your Google Docs into SEO-ready blog posts in minutes! This Typeflo review covers my experience (including how I set up my Smelly Tools blog with Typeflo). Learn more here!

I finally wrote Ranktracker’s blog post. Remember, we launched the 💩 Smelly Tools – LTDs that turn smelly community about a year ago. The idea was to write and rank about tools and founders that are “smelly”.

Over time, we’ll build a big list of tools and teams with red flags. Before buying a tool, you can quickly search to see if it’s listed there.

Sadly, I couldn’t keep it updated. So Smelly Tools itself got a bit smelly 😬

But the good news is that members have been sharing their stinky finds in the community. This little project lives on!

Now I’ve found an easy way to keep it updated by using Typeflo. I wanted to see if I could make a post super fast and wouldn’t you know it, it only took less than 20 minutes!

So What is Typeflo?

Typeflo is a tool that lets you publish Google Docs into live blog posts just by copy-pasting its share link. It’s like magic, but with less glitter and more practicality. You write your content in Google Docs (you know, that thing you probably use every day), and Typeflo takes care of all the technical stuff like SEO and making it look pretty on your website.

If you want to want a full list of details, then here you go:

  • Effortless Publishing: Say goodbye to the clunky interface of WordPress. Just paste your Google Doc link, and bam – you’re live!
  • One-click synchronization: Made changes to the original content on Google Doc? Update the live blog post with just one click of a button.
  • SEO on Autopilot: Typeflo handles all the SEO heavy lifting like meta descriptions, sitemaps, and schema markup. You focus on writing, Google will focus on ranking you.
  • Custom Domains: Want your blog to live on your own domain? No problem. Typeflo makes it a breeze to connect your custom domain (or use their subdomain if you prefer).
  • Built-in Analytics: See how your content is performing with easy-to-understand analytics. Track pageviews, user engagement, and more – all without leaving Typeflo.
  • Email List Building: Grow your audience and keep them engaged with Typeflo’s built-in email list building tools. Collect subscribers and send out those newsletters!
  • Fast & Secure: Typeflo is built for speed and security, so you can rest assured your blog is in good hands (and that your readers won’t be left waiting around).
  • Clean & Customizable Design: Typeflo’s design is clean, modern, and puts your content front and center. Plus, you can customize the look and feel to match your brand.

No, if you want to see Typeflo in full action, do visit Smelly Tools so you can get a glimpse of what this tool is capable of.

Why’s that a big deal?

Think about it. How much time do you waste messing around with WordPress, trying to get your images the right size, or figuring out why your headings aren’t showing up right?

Typeflo just takes all that hassle away. You can focus on what matters: writing awesome content.

Here’s what I love about it:

  • It’s ridiculously easy to use. Seriously, even your cat could probably figure it out (though I wouldn’t recommend letting them near your keyboard).
  • It’s built for SEO. This means Google will actually find your blog posts (unlike that old website you made in high school).
  • It integrates seamlessly with Google Docs. This was a game-changer for me. I practically live in Google Docs, so being able to publish my content without going through WordPress shenanigans is incredible.

I’ll be honest, when I first heard about Typeflo, I was skeptical. Could it really be that easy? But I’m a sucker for a good time-saving tool, so I decided to give it a try. And you know what? I’m so glad I did.

Using Typeflo

The process was simple: I went through each tab on the dashboard and filled in the info. Things like blog name, authors, and categories.

I got stuck on the subfolder thing, but support was super fast. Thanks, Hrithik Kaul and Mohith!

Btw, this subfolder feature is great. You might love it too. Here’s why: You can set your blog on a custom domain like “blog.kenmoo.me” or use a subfolder like in my post: “kenmoo.me/blog/”.

One uses a new custom domain; the other uses your original domain (but still hosted on Typeflo). SEO experts think this is better for SEO, so that’s what I chose 🤷‍♂️.

I then write in Google Docs and sync it to Typeflo with one click. With formatting, images, and all that messy stuff intact. They now have a built-in editor too if you prefer writing directly on Typeflo (like Medium).

Once synced, Typeflo handles the rest:

  • Makes sure the blog looks great
  • Hosts the blog and handles all the traffic
  • SEO stuff (like sitemap and those technical stuff)
  • Makes it load fast
  • I just write and let Typeflo do the rest. No themes, designs, plugins, etc.

Things to Improve for Typeflo

  • Manage the blog from Google Docs, not the Typeflo dashboard. This is coming soon! Clients can write and edit in Docs, and changes show up on the live blog.
  • Add star rating snippets for Google search results. This would be great for product reviews.
  • Maybe add a built-in newsletter like Beehiv.

Adding features is easy…

The hard part for Typeflo is adding cool stuff without making it too complicated. I seriously hope they can do it.

Best Use Cases for Typeflo

If you want to turn Google Docs into your own branded page, Typeflo’s for you. (You can use their editor, too.)

For example:

Sharing public notes.

Send notes.kenmoo.me/text instead of docs.google.com/freaking-long-string-of-random-crazy-text.

Should You Try Typeflo?

Look, I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty smitten with Typeflo. It solved a real pain point for me, which is publishing an article on WordPress for more or less than 45 minutes. Plus, I wouldn’t have been able to build the Smelly Tools blog if it weren’t for this tool.

What I’m trying to say is Typeflo actually delivers on its promises. It’s simple, it works, and it saves me a ton of time.

If you’re tired of wrestling with WordPress, or if you just want a dead-simple way to publish your Google Docs, do yourself a favor and check out Typeflo.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some more blog posts and SaaS reviews to write. You can actually read more of my SaaS reviews here, btw.
