Rollcall Webinar & Transcription
[00:01]
What’s going on, sumolings, thank you so much for joining us for another product walk through webinar. I am Lindsay. Today I’m joined by the team over at Roll Call. This is an asynchronous stand up meeting tool that helps remote teams work better together with built-In scheduling and integrations with your tech stack. It is on at Appsumo right now, starting at forty nine dollars for a lifetime deal. Before we dove into this, though, I didn’t tell you a few quick things.
[00:30]
The first, if you want to tell us a little bit about your use case, why you’re interested in roll call, go ahead and do that in the chat room. If you have any questions about the tool, the deal, how to get set up, go ahead and leave those questions in the Q&A box down below this video. We’ll circle back to them at the end of the walkthrough. And the last thing is that there will be a replay of this available.
[00:50]
So you need to step out and watch it again later. Totally can. All right. That is enough for me. Hey, Mike, how are you doing? Doing great. Lindsey, thank you. It is great to have you.
[01:00]
I’m going to go ahead and pass this over to you for the walkthrough. Let me know when you’re ready to take questions. Awesome. Sounds good.
[01:08]
I’ll just share my screen. Right. Perfect.
[01:12]
Cool. So. Yeah, thanks. Thanks, everyone, for for joining us. For one, we launched on Ximo starting last Friday, so we got some really good feedback, really good questions so far and and, and great reviews. So yeah. I’ll walk you to the product and then at the end. Happy to take any questions to clarify. So from the same page as you, I won’t go through the actual purchase cycle here but you just click buy.
[01:43]
Now one note that I wanted to highlight is when you activate the deal, just make sure that your email that you’re asked for when you transition to to activation is the email that you want to use on your select group. So I just want to highlight that. But for now, I have set up a new group here. Or a new channel, rather, so to go through from the home page, it looks like this. So just adding it to the this group right now, we are currently only on slack.
[02:19]
We’ve gotten a lot of feedback on on next integration’s and where to go. And we’re currently in the review process for Microsoft teams as well. But for this demo will be for this demo purposes, we’ll be using slack. So as you go through the authentication process, you’ll just be asked to to authenticate and request permission to your the workspace that you want to use this tool on. Setout. So you can the obviously in a stand up, you want to bring your team on, you can bring your team on directly from the channel.
[03:11]
So just pick a quick channel if you want to bring on the design team. If you want to bring on whoever you’re doing the stand up with or just bring everyone on it once. But these will be seats in your roll call workspace. And you can also do this just by searching if you want to bring on a few people. This has to go first. So, yeah, I’ll just go with General, bring on love and grin, have my team and continue.
[03:37]
So this is obviously a little bit empty when you’re when you’re up and running, you will have more statistics on the homepage. So seeing past participation, past attendance, past stand up so you can click in and and quickly check out your history. But yeah, this is it. This is this is the management side of this slack integration or teams integration. So this is where you come in. And just quickly, I will create a stand up and show you how the actual flow works.
[04:09]
But a little background, we set this up. My history is in as a product manager for a long time with a number of startups and also spent some time in the agency world. And really this tool was built out of frustration with with current current resume calls, current Sync’s current stand ups. They were just piling up. And this is our answer to that. So just simplifying automating the process and making everything nice and nice and neat. So we’ll do a stand up here.
[04:45]
Eleven of five of them. And this will take in your default time zones from your current stand up, but you can also change this. So if you haven’t set that up in your group, then just make sure your time zone is set. And that’s how the meeting will be triggered. The bot is integrated to the select group itself so we can choose how many reminders we want to send. We can choose if it’s a one time meeting or recurring meeting, so if you have standup every weekday or once a week, if you have a design review once a week, you can you can set that up or just one off.
[05:27]
Meetings work as well. You have a submission window, so the way we are currently running asynchronous meetings is the board will send out the initial trigger, two for everyone that’s invited to the meeting to join. And from there, they have a window in order to submit their their stand up. And the idea being, if if so, from our experience working across different time zones, when you schedule a morning instead of mourning for me is not necessarily morning for everyone.
[06:00]
So this gives a longer window for people to actually do the submission or you can set it up all day. So basically you get an update every day. At the time it’s less convenient for everyone. So we’ll just set it for one hour for now. And I’m actually going to extend this so we don’t miss it. Posted channels. So when when the stand ups are fully recorded, then you are you’re able to deliver it right to the channel.
[06:33]
So if I’m doing a stand up with our design team, for example, we would pick that channel. And when everyone has recorded the video concatenated into one nice and neat video and it posts directly into, for example, the demo channel, I’ll turn myself active. And then from here, you’re also able to edit the time zones of your teammates. So this you just have to do on the initial setup. But this does help by grabbing the current time zone set up from the slack settings.
[07:07]
But also you can customize it, if that’s not correct. And then agenda, so you can customize the agenda and make sure that you’re meeting guidelines are clear so that the updates come in as you expect them. Great. And as we’re waiting for for that trigger to come through in two minutes, I’ll take you through the rest of the dashboard. So as you’re up and running, you will have your attendance history here. So this will be or sorry, this will be a trend.
[07:42]
So basically you’ll see meeting attendance rate over time. So if you’re up at 90 percent, if you’re down at 50 percent, just how many people are actually attending your stand ups and and measuring that over time, your history. So this is your stand up history. If you ever want to go back and view certain information from certain stand ups and just make sure as a manager that everything is flowing properly, we can add new team members here and we can also give certain team members different permissions.
[08:15]
So record only. This will just be with the but in order to get immediate updates and and so forth. And then if you want to start as an admin, this is more so if you want to delegate team leaders that can come in here, use this dashboard as well, create their own team standups and synchronize with their own channel. And then your account set in. So once you when you have claimed the code, you’ll see the number of seats that you’ve claimed here and that you’re on the plan in terms of integration’s.
[08:50]
Right now, as we’re getting the stand updates, we do have the ability to quickly add different assets. So you can you can authenticate with your GitHub, with your account and just have really quick access to existing tasks. And we are expanding this. We have quite a few on a road map, which we can discuss afterwards. So, yeah, let’s see if the meeting came through. Should be at the end of this. OK, we’ll give it 60 more seconds, so as we wait for that, some of the recording options that we’ll see as they come in.
[09:41]
Some of the recording options that we see as the as the bot reaches out to each individual team member to get their update, they can reply with a screen share, they can reply video, audio or text as well. And there we go. So this will come in. This will be messaging each individual team member that’s added to the meeting and from here, you can join the meeting or submit your text update as well. So this could be as simple as what did you do yesterday?
[10:15]
What did you do today and what Blocher’s stand in your way? And then this submission, if for some reason you can’t record a video or if you’re on the go, you can do a quick text update as well. But we’ll join with video. And this is the recording screen, so as you from the settings that you’ve configured when you’re setting up the meeting, this will this will display here. So we’re able to see that agenda. Again, everyone can be clear on the guidelines and then go into record, and so I will do I’ll do a video and for example, purposes, if you want to do audio only and leave if you could do text, then we’ll get to see all the different options as they come in.
[11:04]
I need the squishier already allow. OK, now the text now.
[11:13]
Great, thanks. So this is the record industry and make sure your microphone is selected properly, your camera is set up and then it’s not recording right away, but as we push this button. It is so this is the record section, this is where you would look at your agenda provider, stand up update or other media and update if whatever the meeting is. And this is limited to five minutes to keep everything moving. So we’ll cut it off here and upload.
[11:46]
OK. So now the way it works is all of the updates will be combined together and delivered to the channel when everyone has finished recording or if the time that we’ve set in, the configuration expires. So if we set a one hour time window for everyone to record and and we exceed that window, then the medium is delivered whether or not people have recorded. But if everyone has recorded right after the initial invite, then that will this will show up.
[12:20]
And so. So let’s see how we’re doing. Great. OK, so we have a text update from Lev and then I can jump in and view the entire meeting history or our meeting update rather. So we have a message for you. This this contains everything. So we have my record in that we can jump directly to. We have to record in which we can jump directly to Lev’s text update. And then if you just want to watch everything in a row, it just runs through the feed, concatenated everything into one video.
[12:58]
So as a manager, you can watch all the way through and then if you want to go back, you can jump to certain recordings. But as we play. Hey, guys, this is just the demo Resharing, just to show how my video will concatenated with the rest of the videos very much.
[13:27]
That is, we’ll skip that, but yeah, so it combines everyone’s profile, everyone’s update into one video, limiting the time and making sure we can stick to the stand up guidelines if you have added. Also, you can you can check out participants here, look at various assets they have added. So if if we have, say, a reference to a certain issue and GitHub, a certain task and JIRA and those were added to, we skip the authentication process for those.
[14:01]
But if those were added to the standard, you would see that here and everything would show up here as the participant is as the recording is going. So if if Tegan’s recording is active, we would be able to see any additional references or links or projects that he’s referencing here. Can also see that listed out in its entirety on the asset section, so that will just list out everything that everyone’s added and the median summary here. So just to see the overall agenda and participants with local time zones.
[14:38]
And that’s it. So I I think. I think actually we can go back and see the meeting in the dashboard. Yep. So this is what it looks like when we do have some some stand ups up and running and some participation, so we’re able to see everyone’s history over the past seven days, we’re able to see recent stand ups and jump to those to go back and and look at the history and average attendance over time as well, just so you can track that on a weekly basis.
[15:13]
And then you’ll be able to start seeing the attendance history over time and the history to jump back and view past meetings if you want to. And then an additional note, as you’re going back through the history, if you want to see exactly who’s watched the videos, so it’s one thing to deliver the update to the channel like this, but we also want to make sure that that everyone’s watching. So you’re able to see that in this section here.
[15:44]
And I think that’s it. So I think we’re going to open it up for four questions now or jump into the roadmap. I know that was that was pretty brief, but it’s it’s a pretty simple tool to solve a pretty annoying problem. So I would love to hear some some questions. Definitely.
[16:00]
Thank you so much for that. I love a brief walk through similar things. If you have any questions, drop them in the Q&A box now. But let’s talk about the road map. I’d love to know what’s coming up for you.
[16:12]
Sure. Yeah, let me share. Still sharing. OK, let me just open it up. So. For the road map, we’ve gotten a lot of questions about Integration’s, as I mentioned. So right now we’re currently integrated with JIRA, we’re integrated with GitHub, and we have a custom link integration where you can just drop in, say, a link to a stigma design or a link to an Nasonov task. And it will still pull the correct title and and show in an appropriate way.
[16:45]
But we are expanding on that as well. So we’ve gotten some our current backlog looks like this. We open this up for ASIMO. So if anyone wants to add anything, we can do that by looking here. And this opens up a form that that can give us direct suggestions. So once we get any additional suggestions, we’ve gotten a few great ones already as they appear integration rather than primary use case, and I’d be open to here other options as well.
[17:18]
But primary use case we’re looking at right now is using Xabier to deliver rather than delivering the recording directly to the black channel, maybe also being able to deliver that to private storage or or email as well, or local storage just to make sure you have that history. Lachman’s. So right now we can set up meetings and configure meetings directly from the dashboard here. But this where this one would be to just quickly launch and quickly create an ad hoc stand up right from your channel as you’re discussing with somebody meeting reminders via email.
[18:00]
So right now we have the bot triggering the notifications directly through your communications channel. But having that, we’ve had some suggestions to have that through email as well. And this could also expand into if you’re not using a slack channel, if you’re not using the Microsoft team’s channel, just caught it in stand up directly through email would work analytics enhancements. So right now tracking we’re currently tracking who’s watching the videos and who’s taking part in the attendance, but expanding on that to make sure we can get runtime and efficiency numbers as well.
[18:37]
Adding more languages, adding time tracking was a suggestion in the absence of comments, Google chat integration. What we’re really excited about and what’s currently under development is these two so asynchronous projects. This is basically leveraging what we have. Here as a workspace and ongoing feed and turning this into a standalone project rather than a stand up, so stand ups we look at as temporary. So you come in, do your five minute recording. It’s wrapped up. It’s delivered to the channel.
[19:12]
And that’s your update. But asynchronous projects is to keep this open indefinitely. So let’s say we’re we’re looking at a doing a webinar will open up this as a no no end date and keep this as a project. So as we’re prepping for the webinar, I can come in at a message directly to the feed or record a video that’s specific to the webinar. And this would notify everyone else so that we have all of our webinar information recorded in this project and we can do it asynchronously.
[19:46]
So no need to jump on a quick sync, no need to jump on the zoom call as everyone is spread out over the world. That makes it difficult. So this is kind of the home base for four specific projects. That’s the idea. Customer service is leveraging the technology. We have to be able to send out quick surveys to whether that’s how do you feel at work, how productive do you feel? Any comments on just collecting surveys directly into these meetings as well and viewing that as a dashboard and then Microsoft?
[20:26]
So, as I mentioned, we’re just in the final stages of launching our teams integration as well. Nothing changes on the dashboard side. It just opens up for more opportunities and more teams to join. Yeah. Did anything else jump out off of that roadmap that I should dig a bit deeper on? Oh, I see.
[20:48]
If you think so, please go ahead. That was great. Thank you so much. I know that they just love to see it and love to know it exists. So that’s awesome. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. We do have a question here is can we use roll call with multiple accounts?
[21:06]
Yes, right now, the way that we have it set up with the codes, each each code would be Sync’s to one slack workspace. So if you do want to do that, you would need instead of buying a large code with one hundred seats that they get to with 50 and just split it across the different workspaces. Awesome.
[21:28]
Very smart. And then if you have any more questions, you is there somewhere that they can reach out to you? Is there any documentation that they can find?
[21:37]
Yeah, absolutely. So if I could share again, I can show you some good touch points. So directly from the absolute page, we have our FAQ widget here. This link is directly to our roadmap and this reaches out directly to our live chat, which is also on our landing page. So actually, anywhere as you’re going through this process, we do have our live chat widget here. So whether it’s asking questions before making your purchase, you can do that directly from the deal page.
[22:10]
And then once you’re in and setting up your meetings, managing your dashboard, if you have any questions, you can contact us here. Awesome, I love it. Thank you so much and also really cool thing on the for saying that before. That’s amazing.
[22:28]
All right. Thank you so much. If you have not already, you can go to Atsumi that Kogoro call to redeem your codes starting at forty nine dollars for a lifetime deal. Of course, this is backed by abstemious 60 day guarantee. Go ahead, set up, play around with it, see how it works for you. Once you’ve done that. We love to read your reviews on the deal page. This does have a five Taxco rating, so kudos to you all.
[22:52]
And and if you have any more questions, reach out. There’s a really cool widget on the page that I just discovered. Look, I love it so much. All right. Thank you so much, Mike. It has been a pleasure having you.
[23:02]
Have a good one. My pleasure. Thanks a lot.
