Picter Webinar & Transcription
What’s going on, Sumolings, thank you so much for joining us for another product walk through webinar, I am Lindsay. Today I am joined by the team over at Picter. This is a tool for teams to organize, review, approve and share creative assets with team members and clients. It is available on apps right now, starting at forty nine dollars for a lifetime deal. Before we dive into the tool itself. I just want to tell you a few quick things.
[00:00:30.400]
The first is that if you want to tell us a little bit about your use case, why you’re interested in this tool, you can go ahead and do that in the chat room. If you have any questions about the tool, the deal, how to get set up, go ahead and leave your questions in the Q&A box down below this video. And we will circle back to them at the end of the walk through. We also have Sebastian here on standby to answer the questions as they come in.
[00:00:52.000]
And the last thing is that there will be a replay of this available. So if you need to step out, if you just want to watch this later, you totally can. All right. That is enough of me. Hey, Simon, how are you doing?
[00:01:04.990] – Simon(Picter)
Hey, Lindsay, thanks for the nice intro.
[00:01:07.420] – Simon(Picter)
Hi, I’m Simon. I’m doing well. I mean, I think everybody is hoping for the state of the world to get better soon.
[00:01:17.500] – Simon(Picter)
And whilst this is what we are all still in the middle of going through a crazy, crazy time, and ideally, we can at least look at nice graphics and work at them and use the infrastructure that we have available, which is the nice place that we call Internet and use that to to visually collaborate in our case. And what I’ll be doing today, I’ll be showing you how to quickly set up your workspace, run you through a couple of different use cases and enable you to be able to understand how flexible and visual and ideally beautiful the tool is.
[00:01:58.960]
And as Lindsay already said, feel free to ask questions in the chat. And after my walk through, I’ll be I’ll be here to answer a couple of questions as well. OK. Where are we? Go. So I hope you can all see my screen. Yep, looks a bit cool. All right, so what you see here is a in our case, pretty packed dashboard’s. That’s where you land when you have created your account. Usually it’s pretty empty.
[00:02:40.860]
There’s just one demo project. I decided that I’ll be going in depth, sharing how we at picture organize and organize assets within within our tool. And first, just so you understand, the the the overview a little better. We have a couple of them. Yeah. You have a couple of things here in the top bar. You can create new projects straight away the lens down here, or you can create new folders. Folders enable you to structure projects, for instance, for specific clients or specific projects.
[00:03:20.580]
And you have different views to structure content visually just the way you are probably familiar and expecting it from other tools in order to be able to sort the content that you see here differently and you have a search function. We’ll get to that in a second. And I’ll also show you how. You know how in the settings you can set up your members? You see all the members who have access to a workspace with different access levels. So an owner, they have full access so they can see everything and do everything, a manager and they can manage members.
[00:04:08.010]
Full access in that case means that they also own a subscription. And they they are the ones who can at credit card details, which in the case that we’re talking about, is not that important because you’re basically purchasing potentially through Xoom. But in case you’d want to. Yeah, add new members that are that go beyond the plan that you’ve purchased through. So you can do that here. So, yeah, pretty, pretty clear. I guess adding members is also pretty, pretty easy.
[00:04:41.640]
Just enter the email, sets the roll and send an invites and there you go and you can customize. So you can upload your logo and you have you see your building and plan. So your subscription you can set notifications. And yet you can also earn credit, so you have basically the possibility to invite other people to. Or you credit that is then discounted from in case you have a monthly subscription is discounted in your case. Just going with the regular three absolute tiers.
[00:05:25.570]
And yes, this discount won’t won’t be applicable. And you can also connect EPS. In our case, we started out with Slack because of the fact that we think it’s most probably one of the most liked and used tools for organising communication. And so all your notifications, tasks that you’ve assigned and tested, Yusoff, you can do that in slack. All right. That’s that’s in regards to to the settings and to getting getting started and.
[00:06:05.180]
We go to demos, I’ve prepared a lot of demo project for four different use cases and. As you see, you can always, in different levels rename. You can also rename and hear this sign here shows that you are following this project, that case you get notifications in case there’s a new Commins, there’s a new Essid uploaded and so forth. And apart from the notifications that either get via email or within slack, you also have a notification panel down here.
[00:06:46.860]
And so, yeah, basically it gives you an idea for it. And we get to the sharing options in regards to enabling clients or other people you might need a review from or you might request files from and so forth and to to access your specific picture project without the necessity to to creating a picture account. And in these notifications, you see, in case some of these things have to happen, opens you you get an overview. This is something that is currently being remade and tidied up a bit more.
[00:07:27.180]
And just so you know, apparently we’re continuously elaborating, evolving the tools. So anybody having any feedback, any future requests more than welcome to to to tell us about them. And so what I’ll be doing, I’ll create a new project. Entitled it. And what I can do now is I can either drag and drop assets, I just selected jetpacks, but you can really upload any assets and all visual assets will be displayed visually because it’s a visual tool first.
[00:08:14.370]
So you see upload starts what I can do now, right away, whilst it’s still uploading, I can yeah. I can create collections of. At Images to the Collector, the collection, by either using these checkmarks up there that shows me that all these images are being selected and then I can drag and drop them in here. So all of them are in that same in that same project and. Sorry, I’m just reloading because of my Internet connection and screen sharing, some of the assets haven’t haven’t been loading the way they were intended to, and in case I need to, I can rename again, you know, on the project level and again, use the collections to the to on the site to structure content that is inside a project.
[00:09:21.890]
And I then have the possibility to go through the different assets. CIA, OK, works all all the ones that I wanted to show are there are no sorry, there are a couple of ones that are missing, but I know that I have them in other projects in my particular account. I have them already there. So why should I? I don’t need to upload them again. I can also just go and select them here. And from there, say.
[00:10:03.720]
Copy to new project or copy to existing project or a search for more. Here we go and select that. I copy and selection is copy to assemble a demo project. And I want to add more. I do that again, by the way. I press shift on my keyboard. If I’m if I want to select, if I want to select assets. And again, same same flow of sumo you would go copy. And they’re they’re there, so because I want to work in that other project, I just clicked on back to projects and again, you know, loading time is not as speedy as it’s going to be if you’re doing it on your own, because I’m currently sharing my screen.
[00:10:57.790]
Just you’re not just doing that. And again, I am continuing to organize my assets. Why is that?
[00:11:07.660]
Because, again, I will want to enable my coworkers or other people to to access this work and to collaborate visually, collaborate on selection, on feedback and review. We get to that in a second.
[00:11:31.860]
So, again, two ways of creating a new collection, I can either do it by batch selecting assets that I want to move into a new collection, and then when I select, I get a different tapas and where I can, I just hit collections and then I create a new one. Doing that. I can also just escape to leave that selective state, create a new collection just by hitting the plus on the left and yeah, creating a new one.
[00:12:04.770]
And now I’m using. Again, I’m pressing shift to bed select now I’m using the drag and drop functionality to add them all at once. So the toast gives me the overview that that all of them have been added. And last but not least, as you see, there is a couple of videos in this project, too. So adding them as well, in case I don’t want to select all all images, I just don’t press shift anymore.
[00:12:42.550]
And I can then also select individual assets. I don’t know if I want to select the batch. I can just I start with clicking one press shift and it selects all of the ones that are you know, as you see now, I’m pressing shift. And if it’s it’s there and. So last collection created, you just know in a second why I created all these collections and just repeatedly that basically the same task. And again, we’ve been we’ve been in here.
[00:13:16.430]
So I’m I want a feedback from a coworker, say, from Leon so I can mention them at Leon. Please update the logos.
[00:13:31.490]
Thank you. So Leon gets notification, I can also then assign this comments to Leon and Leon, and then in case he’s done with it, he can resolve it. You can also go and reply. So as you see, he’s on it. Thank you, Leon. And he can he can then go and reply. We have a very nice feature that, you know, from other tools as well, which is we call it the activity channel up in the.
[00:14:03.660]
Yeah. Up here. And what I can do is I can observe Lee on the screen. So I’m yeah, I’m just following Leon and now I see what well Leon is clicking to without us having to had shared screens so we can again have a like a virtual remote meeting. And because we talking about visual assets, we don’t want the, you know, the glitches and the kind of pixilated visuals that you oftentimes have if you share your screen and whatever, your Internet connection is not that stable with picture.
[00:14:43.770]
You can you can do that the way you just saw. Again, here’s the activity channel. I can see, Leon. So we we started out with with that one, Leon. It’s already on it. At one point, he’s probably go and upload a new version. And so I can I’ll know that that he’s done. He can also then mention me and he can resolve the comment. And I’ll see if there’s other things that I want to change.
[00:15:15.960]
Well, maybe in that in that video or let’s do another one. Let’s do that video. And so just so you see. That we can also you can do the same thing that I’m just showing you right now in terms of marking up right on a file, visually, you can do that with videos or with still images or any other visual assets. And you can either sit, like put a pin. So you point to one specific area, so I’m going to be mentioning the on again.
[00:16:09.010]
And but you can also go. And again, you see, this is an invitation that is on frame at the second three. So if I’m here, for instance, I might want to say another thing as well. So, for instance, say, like now I’m using the Mark-Up feature. For the Mark-Up feature, I have the possibility to select different colors so that you can make sure they pop out for your collaborators or your co-workers, freelancers, whoever might not be part of your of your team all the time.
[00:16:43.860]
And so I just annotated are marked off a certain spot on a specific frame that I just selected on the timeline of the video. And again, add a comment them. But. Again, it’s just for for you to understand, so there is the possibility to have a real visual and organized way to use the comments as some sort of a kind of a to do list visual feedback and basically. Getting rid of endless emails, we receive visuals in PDF or in screenshots or anything like that, and then you’re getting to, OK, well, what did the person actually mean here?
[00:17:37.280]
You have it in one place. We have all the assets that are part of that one specific project or campaign or the photo shoot or whatever it might be. And you have them in one place. You have the comments in one place, you know. Where they what they’re talking about and in that case, they even could have made it even that could have highlighted even better. I just wanted to show you that you can leave comments and all these different levels.
[00:18:08.660]
And. So, you know, we’ve done our internal first step, so to speak, and now we want to get like we either want to invite guests, you might want to invite guests in case it’s some freelancer that who has to have access to that specific project throughout the entire course from start to finish. So it works just like, you know, from from other tools with the difference that a member or a guest. They have only access to that one, specific projects, they can see anything else.
[00:18:49.180]
So I do that invitation, I write a little note sends that invites done and I’ll be just for the sake of speed, I’ll just be showing you where another person who has gotten access to a specific project where they will see these project. So we have a shared with me and tab and all the projects that have been shared with you appear here. So, yeah, that’s that’s pretty simple. And then we have three different types of sharing links, let’s call it.
[00:19:30.370]
We have what is the most common use case review link? What happens with the review link? So you might your specific client, you might them to us it’s let’s just say the testimonial. So here you go. That’s why I created a couple of collections. So you see that with each individual link, you can also enable access to specific assets that you don’t have to enable them accessing all files because you might want to either. You might want to be very clear with your communication or there’s certain assets that the client just doesn’t have to see.
[00:20:09.730]
So you can make sure that you get by by using the collections to do that. And then you can decide what kind of accessibility believes the person receiving that link has. You can either enable or disabled up download and show or hide comments. In that case, I you know, we just show the comments. There are none for the specific assets that we’ve that we’ve just shared. I click on the link. It’s copy to my clipboard and I’m just showing you in a new private tab that.
[00:20:48.570]
That’s the way it looks, so you just have these three assets, I might have added information I didn’t for the sake of speed, but again, these three assets, I want to be able to look at them. I can great. Because I’ve enabled comments. The person the comment bar is open. So I could say, as know, right now, I’m in cognitive mode, I’m not locked in. So I want to tell them here, I add a comment again, please change the last name to.
[00:21:35.490]
And because we need we need to make sure that the data is structured in the right way. If you want to interact in that way, so far the system hasn’t even asked me for any any information. Now, I know the system needs to structure that information in a way that you, as the person who wants that feedback, knows who you’re talking to.
[00:21:58.960]
So I just put my name and my private email. So you go you can also if you use picture, you can just log in. But I just want to show you that light access. So I didn’t create a picture account. Now it’s just for the sake of structuring the data nicely. And again, it’s it shows up right away. I can reply to a comment. I just yeah. I just left that comment. But the other ones I want to approve.
[00:22:34.890]
Now, that’s a functionality that we haven’t touched. The approval button is basically the possibility to have another visual, very visual way of saying, yes, that’s a final asset, or just saying I have approved. This one tells me client X, Y, Z have said this is good checkmark. Let’s go. And again, I can also filter for the ones that I’ve I’ve reviewed, I can then say I’m done with my review. Thank you.
[00:23:05.640]
Finish. Close. And in here. We are. We’ll be seeing the yeah, the ones that I’ve approved. And we’ll be seeing that there has been, you know, the I’m done with my review automatically as is displayed as a comment and I’m OK, there’s something to do here. OK, again, I give this to Leon and. That’s one part of saying, like, OK, I’ve given I’ve given a client access to these files.
[00:23:48.600]
Now let’s assume that Leon has changed everything. We just want to deliver final assets, but we want to want the client to parents to be able to download. We don’t want to see any comments that might have happened. Meanwhile, and again, it’s just about these testimonials. So, again, creating another another access link for the sake of clarity for you guys, opening it in a private tab, that’s the way a presentation link works. So you see there is no approval button, nothing like that.
[00:24:22.830]
It’s just a very clean gallery of thumbnails with the possibility of going through them, you know, just enlarging them. No comments because I’ve disabled them, nothing that I would not want the clients to have. And the possibility because I’ve enabled it to download. So up here you can download all the assets or you could also say I select individual ones and download. That’s that. Now, let’s assume I’m an external collaborator to just showcase you the last one, which is a an inbox link.
[00:25:01.110]
And I’m an external collaborator. I’ve been asked to just simply upload assets in order to make sure for. Yeah, your team to receive stuff in a very streamlined way. Straight, straight to the to the spot where you want it to be it if you open that link, it just says that in that case, Pickler has invited you to upload files and you can either decide to leave the upload name just with a with the time stamp that is automatically created or say.
[00:25:38.710]
Simon, one thing you please, you are sharing things in the private tab, and it’s not visible to people. Oh, I’m sorry.
[00:25:47.180]
I’m terribly sorry about that. Thanks for mentioning it. Now, that’s that’s a pity. So I’ll be doing that straight away. Real quick. Again, we’ve been going through through the review links just so you see it. I’m opening it in here. I hope your you can see it now. Can you please give me a brief? Yes. It works, right? OK, perfect. So you have basically the same the same overview and two assets have already been approved.
[00:26:23.270]
That case by me. There’s this comment that has been left because comments are enabled in that project and. We’ve also already created the presentation link, so you can see that one. Presentation link, again, no clutter, no chrome, just a beautiful, very simple visual gallery that has your logo that you’ve uploaded up here, the title and the possibility for the recipients to go through the assets in a single image view and then to download either individual assets.
[00:27:02.740]
Or all at once, and now the last one we’ve just been there and again, terribly sorry for not thinking about the fact that I’ve enabled just that one window to be shared. So here we go again. I’ve just explained it, I’ve opened that that inbox link, I’m asked to just leave a name and it automatically creates a time stamp. And no, I’m just saying, like, my upload is called Seeman Dobermann and now I can I can upload again.
[00:27:38.910]
I’m just going to be selecting a couple of assets and I’ve already prepared just so you you see what happens. So I already know that it’s the same I can replace them. And wait, I have to select new ones because it’s. It is basically pretty much an edge case. So. What I have here, marketing campaigns and we go. So here. Sorry. I just uploaded an. Another video, so it’s uploading, you can see it down here, and once that’s done, now it’s processing.
[00:28:46.210]
So it’s encoding the file. Once it shows, I’ll be going to I’ll be doing I’ll be hitting done with my uploads. And let’s just wait for the for the encoding to be finished. And once I hit done with my uploads, I’ll move over to the come to our existing project. As you see, I’ve not reloaded anything here and it’s created that collection that contains the video that I just uploaded here. So I’m just going to be sending files.
[00:29:26.170]
And basically I could upload more files, but I’m yeah, I’m done. That’s that. And so, again, to get out of a potential workflow or maybe do like a couple of last bits and pieces I’ll be approving. A couple of assets, just so you see what that does to the filters. Once a person like either be it a client and an external client or an internal team member creates the first approval FLAC that creates automatically creates that specific filter for that person.
[00:30:07.280]
If I check that box, it just contains the assets that I’ve selected. I can select several boxes to show me the overlapping selections. So in that case, if I need to see so Leon has just approved again and that we have this might not know it, but you’ve seen it. We have a real time, like we support real time functionality. So I don’t even have to reload refresh. I just see that on the fly. So now first I want to just see what Leon has has approved all these assets.
[00:30:46.940]
Nice. Great. So is there any overlap between the selection. But myself did that. Leon did. Yes. These three. So what did the client say? OK, it’s that one so great. We know in a visual way that this is an approved assets. We could then say whatever we move this asset to. A new collection that is called Approved. Or. Final deliverables. For social. So here we go, so you can also again, you can structure your assets very, very quickly and individually and the collections are virtual collections so you can have as many assets in different collections at the same time.
[00:31:41.330]
It’s not like, as you probably know that from other tools, but it gives you that flexibility of structuring your assets quickly, as well as using that to structure your workflow visually and. Just so you see, this is things that have happened, what I’ve been doing, that presentation, all the ones that I know that are marked with a red dot and. They are new, so this is I’m always up to date for what’s what’s going on and in my project and again, I can really move stuff from start say this is how we started out with adding assets and just finding visuals that might work for specific for a specific campaign to.
[00:32:41.900]
Assets that are already kind of that are designed, that are graphics, I can use it to structure it, to review it, to collaborate on it as you’ve just seen, and get it from start to finish and have all that in a visual, nicely accessible interface.
[00:33:02.420]
And I’ll stop here.
[00:33:07.520]
And. I hope that that it was informative, and I’m again, I’m sorry for not thinking about the the fact that you can see anything in my or you couldn’t see anything in my private life. Sorry about that. I hope we got it got it sorted. And again, I think this is this is the time to go over to to the Q&A. And let’s do some questions.
[00:33:37.350] – Lindsay (AppSumo)
Sumolings, if you have any questions that you would like answered, go ahead and throw those here. We did hear from Leon from Yarl’s team, who is talking about the upcoming task view.
[00:33:54.680]
Do you want to talk a little bit? I know Swelling’s love a road map. Do you want to talk a little bit about what’s coming up, what you are looking forward to? Definitely.
[00:34:05.650] – Simon(Picter)
Definitely. One hundred percent. So the reason I haven’t been making this part of the of the of the webinar is because it’s not released yet, but we’re about releasing it. So I just mentioned the integration. This is a pretty new feature. And regarding the task you that is basically giving you, it’s another step, Stone, in regards to project management with picture. So we’ve seen that you can assign comments to specific people. You can at mention people in the comment section.
[00:34:39.880]
You can mention people and link that to a markup. All these things will be in your my task overview. So any comment that you’ve been assigned to, you don’t need to go from the notification panel or any notification that you get in. We’re going to be probably releasing it next week. And you can just see that in your in your sidebar. Under my tasks. Click there you see a structured list of any comment that you’ve been assigned to.
[00:35:14.470]
You can immediately access either the asset or the project that it contains and thus have an even even more streamlined review process or using that, um, project management aspect of of Pictou more extensively, so to speak. What we’re currently also working on is a couple of based on the great feedback we’ve already received from from user mailings. And we’re working on, you know, like minor fixes, minor improvement improvements in regards to, for instance, the zoom functionality.
[00:35:53.290]
I’ve I haven’t been going into that for the sake of timing and because I think it’s it’s rather unusual and people kind of expect it, especially for very long, for forever screenshots from websites. We’re going to be changing that view. And we’re also reworking the video player to be even more beautiful and useful. And yeah, there’s there’s a couple of other other things in regards of versioning that is coming up, so you haven’t shown how that specifically works, but what you can do is you can replace files that already in our back end.
[00:36:34.380]
It creates versions of these files. And in the next next weeks, we’re going to be enabling you to go back in time, see different versions of the assets that you’ve been worked, that you’ve been working on. And again, just to add another layer of of unclarity to your visual workflow. I think that’s the most important things we have and we have a road map accessible that anyone, any one of you can can go to and. I don’t know, I I’ve just checked the charts and I don’t see any questions here right now.
[00:37:21.910]
So does anybody have anything or Lindsey, do you have anything that you want to ask me?
[00:37:27.160] – Lindsay (AppSumo)
The only other question that we have is about Integration’s and if in which integration’s are coming up.
[00:37:36.670] – Simon(Picter)
So there is a couple there’s many requests regarding regarding that matter and it makes total sense. So right now, we’re you know, we still need to see. So the more interaction we get in regards to you telling us about potential future requests, the easier you make it for us to distinguish what to tackle first. But what is on our roadmap is Dropbox and Google Drive integration in order to easily either. Yeah, like move assets from your cloud storage of choice that you potentially currently using in order to move to what we think is going to be the future of a visual asset management in comparison to digital asset management and what else?
[00:38:28.870]
We’ve been tackling project management quite regularly in this webinar. So Azana on Monday, like project management tools, are on our roadmap roadmap as well. I think these are the most the ones that are most pressing. We’re also thinking about we transfer integration. It’s not an integration of that sort, but basically the possibility to just like drop, we transfer. You are automatically downloads and unzips. The files contain that. That’s just just to give you an idea about the different paths that are, I would say, top of our list in regards to integrations and love that.
[00:39:15.850] – Lindsay (AppSumo)
And I know similar things. Definitely love to know roadmaps because they’re invested in your for the long haul. So. Exactly right.
[00:39:25.990]
All right. So it sounds like, Marc, it’s just that I believe picture will replace a bunch of applications I stitched together. Awesome, guys. Thank you, Marcus.
[00:39:36.190] – Simon(Picter)
That’s why we’re here. It’s really our vision is to so we think that that’s the way we work has changed. But the way we tackle creative review, visual organization and so forth hasn’t. So there is a lot of space there for improvement. The like the tech available for all of us. It’s just it’s incredible what you can build nowadays with a respectably small team. You’ve seen a couple of our team members in our settings. So it’s there is a lot of things on a roadmap and a lot of things that that will happen.
[00:40:15.760]
And I hope that it’s in that, yeah, we provide a helpful solution for for all of you. And again, you don’t think outside of the box. We think that anyone working with visual content is a creative nowadays and who doesn’t work with visual content. I mean, it’s it’s the core piece of communication for any marketer. For any brand. Yeah. And not talking about the obvious ones, design agencies, marketing agencies and so forth. So you’re very welcome to check out our tool.
