Zylvie Review: The Ultimate Fee-Free Platform for Selling Digital Products

In this Zylvie Review, we'll discuss in-depth this tool's pros and cons, use cases, and features we'd love to see in the future. We'll also share our thoughts and decide whether it's worth getting or not.

Selling digital products online can be tricky. Dealing with inventory and confusing numbers can be overwhelming.

But then, a new tool launched last December promises to make it easier for online sellers. It helps them manage their digital products efficiently. This tool offers many features. These include managing multiple brands. They also include an automated sales page builder, easy email collection, and automatic VAT/GST calculation. And they have user-friendly interfaces. They streamline the selling process.

With this new tool, sellers can now focus on making great products and engaging with customers. They can avoid being slowed by admin tasks.

Introducing Zylvie

Before we get into the details, let me tell you about Jye Alvin Tan. He’s done this before – his last tool, Zlappo, for Twitter, was a hit. Zylvie is his latest, and it’s caught my eye.

Zylvie seems to solve the problems I faced without extra fluff. Selling PDFs or video courses? Zylvie handles that. And it seems light on the wallet, which is a plus.

But, let’s be real – Zylvie is still quite new. It’s not perfect and doesn’t have all the fancy features yet. We’ll talk about that in a bit. Stick with me as we check what’s good and not-so-good about Zylvie.

❌ Cons of Using Zylvie:

Limited Whitelabeling Options

I’ve observed that Zylvie’s whitelabeling options are somewhat restricted. Although I can tweak emails slightly, the sending domain remains fixed as Zylvie’s. This makes full branding hard.

Absence of Client Portal

Zylvie lacks a dedicated client portal, affecting the overall customer experience. A client portal would let customers update payment methods. They could also review previous orders and do other self-service actions.

No Mobile App

Despite being mobile-responsive, Zylvie doesn’t have a dedicated mobile app. This might limit on-the-go accessibility and management convenience for users.

Basic Landing Pages

The landing pages on Zylvie lack dynamic elements and advanced design features. It is more geared toward simple sales funnels. This might hinder the creation of more sophisticated sales funnels. It would be great to see features like upsells, downsells, bump offers, and other funnel features.

Not an MOR (Marketplace Operator)

It is not a Marketplace Operator. This fact might be a drawback for businesses seeking simplified payment processing and compliance with international laws. However, it could help those who want more control over transactions. It could also help those who want reduced costs.

Lack of Email Marketing Feature

It lacks an email marketing feature. It relies on external services like ConvertKit. This requires additional steps for managing buyer/lead subscriptions.

Basic Email Notifications

It sends basic email notifications for sales and affiliate commissions. Yet, it lacks more detailed and granular notification options commonly found in other platforms. It would be nice to have options like request received, consent awaited, submitted for processing, and more.

Manual Product Migration Process

Migrating digital products from other platforms to Zylvie is a manual process. This may be time-consuming and less convenient for users.

⚙️ Typical use cases for Zylvie

Selling Digital Downloadable Products

It provides a platform for creators to sell digital products like ebooks, videos, courses, and artwork without any commission fees. Creators can list their products, manage multiple brands under one account, and have lifetime access to a sales platform with 0% commission.

Collecting Email Addresses and Distributing Lead Magnets

Creators can easily grow their email list by distributing lead magnets through it. By creating a landing page to disseminate free products, they can collect qualified leads and expand their mailing list for marketing purposes.

Selling Software and Issuing Licenses

It enables creators to sell software products using a one-time payment model. Each sale generates a unique license key, which can be programmatically validated or invalidated via API. Creators can also resend or reissue license keys as needed to customers.

Issuing Promo Codes for Personalized Discounts

Creators can personalize discounts for their loyal customers by issuing promo codes through it. These promo codes can have specific usage limits, validity periods, and can be set to apply storewide or only to select products. Creators have the flexibility to revoke promo codes at any time.

Running Flash Sales/Limited-Time Promos

It allows creators to run flash sales during critical sales seasons to boost short-term sales. By setting up countdown timers and offering special deals, creators can create buying urgency and impulse purchase behavior among their audiences. This helps in rewarding loyal customers and jumpstarting sales for new product offerings.

📃 Wishlist for Zylvie

Zylvie is still missing more mature features that we hope to see in the future. Some of them are as follows:

  • I wish to see a rating and review system for more customer engagement
  • I wish Zylvie had a comprehensive funnel-like system for online courses. This could open more selling opportunities.
  • I hope for more integrations with third-party tools like Beehive, Brevo, and Pabbly. Adding more options would give us sellers more flexibility. They could choose tools to fit their needs.
  • I’d love to see more payment gateway options. They should go beyond Stripe, and include SEPA, Xendit, Wise, Paypal, bank transfer, and QR code options. Adding payment options would broaden Zylvie’s appeal. It would reach a more diverse global audience. This would make it easier for sellers to transact in their preferred currencies and methods.
  • Adding support for email providers like Sendgrid or SMTP would be great. It would be in addition to the current support for ESPs like ConvertKit and Getresponse.
  • More email integration options would let users be more flexible. They could manage their strategies better.
  • I wish Zylvie had plans for sub-accounts to cater to the needs of agencies.

❓ Final Thoughts

Zylvie presents a compelling option for digital product sellers looking for a cost-effective, user-friendly platform. Its standout feature is undoubtedly the 0% commission policy, which allows creators to retain all their earnings—a significant advantage over competitors like Gumroad and LemonSqueezy. This alone can be a game-changer for many small to medium-sized digital businesses.

One of Zylvie’s strongest attributes is its ease of use. The platform’s intuitive interface makes it accessible even to those who are not particularly tech-savvy. Setting up products, managing multiple brands, and creating sales pages is straightforward, allowing sellers to focus more on product development and customer engagement rather than getting bogged down by administrative tasks.

The array of features Zylvie offers is impressive. From seamless integrations with payment processors like Stripe to automatic VAT/GST calculation, Zylvie covers many bases that digital product sellers need. Its built-in marketing tools, affiliate program management, and the ability to issue promo codes and licenses further enhance its appeal as a comprehensive sales solution.

However, Zylvie is not without its limitations. The lack of advanced analytics, a built-in invoice maker, and more sophisticated landing page options are notable drawbacks. Additionally, the absence of a client portal, a dedicated mobile app, and an abandoned cart feature are areas where Zylvie could improve to better compete with more established platforms. The limited whitelabeling options and the manual product migration process also present challenges for some users.

Despite these shortcomings, Zylvie shows immense promise, especially for those who prioritize cost savings and simplicity. The wishlist of features, such as a rating and review system, more third-party integrations, additional payment gateway options, and support for email providers like Sendgrid, highlights the potential areas for growth and enhancement. If Zylvie continues to evolve and address these gaps, it could very well become a frontrunner in the digital product sales space.

With all of that said, what do we think?

Zylvie is worth considering for digital creators seeking a no-fuss, economical platform to sell their products.

With its zero commission policy, ease of use, and robust feature set, it offers a solid foundation for growing your digital business.

However, it’s essential to weigh its current limitations against your specific needs and be prepared for some workarounds or additional tools to fill in the gaps.

For those willing to embrace a platform that’s still developing but shows significant potential, Zylvie could be an excellent choice.
